Alan started
Karate in 1980 and gained his Black belt in 1995 the same year
he started Tai Ji. "At first I found it strange doing both,
what with Karate emphasising a straight leg and TaiJi a bent leg.
but I soon found that my Karate improved as I began to relax more.
I realised that you can do a lot in Karate by being fit and strong
but from TaiJi I learned to concentrate on the techniques.
Where Karate is all martial TaiJi has its non-martial side. I enjoy practising
and teaching the Health & Relaxation side where exercises improve our balance,
co-o-ordination and relaxation." |
