My interest in eastern philosophy and practice began when I started
travelling to Samye Ling Tibetan Centre and associated Rokpa centres
about 5 years ago which naturally led me to start attending 7 Stars
taiji classes at Rokpa Dundee. The 7 Stars School has a long
established connection with Samye Ling, and I always remember Bob
saying we’re all part of the same family, just different slices
of the same pie. I thought this was a great way to look at
it, and seemed to me to reflect perfectly the complementary nature
of the different Chinese traditions which are so beautifully encapsulated
in the movements of taiji and in the spirit of the 7 Stars School.
Progressing through the health and relaxation syllabus
has really opened my eyes to the depth and subtlety of taiji which
can be studied on so many different levels. This revealed itself
not only through the high level of skill and knowledge demonstrated
by the instructors in the school, but also through the personal experience
that comes from the practice of taiji. To be given the opportunity
to share even a small amount of this knowledge and experience with
others, and enable them to begin the process of self discovery that
is taiji, is something for which I am very grateful.
